On September 19, 2017, Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas will partner with FirstNet and AT&T to deliver a dedicated wireless broadband network for public safety in the state.

With Governor Abbott’s announcement today, Texas becomes the 23rd U.S. state or territory to opt-in to FirstNet’s deployment plan for the nationwide public safety broadband network.
